Volunteers are boxing clever for poor families

A TEAM of volunteers from an Evesham warehouse are getting set to head to Eastern Romania to hand out gift-filled shoeboxes for poor and vulnerable children and families this Christmas.

Members of Teams4u saw a lorry leave Evesham last month with nearly 10,000 shoeboxes on board heading for Eastern Romania on the Danube Delta. The area is very poor as much industry has disappeared.

A team will now head out to the area to hand out shoeboxes at orphanages both private and state run as well as to poor families. They have been asked to distribute boxes to a disabled children’s orphanage of 120 children.

Some of the boxes will go to the town of Sulina on the delta, the only way there is by boat as there is no road. The population there includes 300 children and a disabled children’s home which will also receive their shoeboxes.
