VISITORS flocked to a free community event promoting a healthier life which was held at Evesham Leisure Centre.

The Living Well event offered free and informative help and advice on a wide range of health matters with some 48 organisations present.

Physical and mental health is hugely important and groups attending the event were on hand to offer information on a wide range of activities available which can help combat social isolation which is often the cause of anxiety, a condition affecting the mental health of many today.

Newly-elected chairman of Wychavon District Council, Coun Alex Sinton said: “I cannot think of a more appropriate function I could have attended as my first engagement.

“The health and well-being of all our residents is, of course of paramount importance so it is gratifying to see the number of supportive agencies present.

Mayor of Evesham Coun Mark Goodge said: “I am extremely pleased Evesham can offer a venue such as this for an event offering so much information and choice.”

Joe Icke, operations manager for the Vale of Evesham Primary Care Network expressed his gratitude to all those involved in organising the event.

“Not only is it a great opportunity for organisations to come together and network it also enables members of the public to reacquaint themselves with the services provided within our local community.”

Julie Wood from Cavendish Park Care Home and Malarkey Ukulele Band supplied music throughout, whilst informative talks were delivered on a number of issues including preventing falls and estate planning.

Visitors were encouraged to fill out the feedback and evaluation forms and were entered into a prize draw with the chance of winning a veg box containing fresh local produce kindly donated by Hampton Farm Shop. The lucky winner was Yvonne Bonham.
