THIEVES have again targeted Evesham’s Regal cinema with an attempted theft from the historic venue’s store room.

It’s believed three men forced their way through the back of 32 Port Street sometime between 12.50am and 1.10am yesterday (Wednesday).

When officers arrived at the scene they found boxes of beer at the back of the building.

West Mercia Police said it is unclear at this stage whether or not anything has been stolen.

One of the men has been described as wearing a black woolly hat.

The raid is the second incident at the venue in less than a month after thieves stole money from collection boxes in a raid last month.

Speaking to the Observer, Laura Clifford, Marketing Manager at The Regal Cinema, said: “We are upset to have been targeted again so soon after our last break-in, in which our original 1932 art deco doors were destroyed beyond repair and two of our fourth floor fund-raising collection boxes stolen.

“We have been overwhelmed by the support of the local community since these incidents and would like to thank everyone for their kind words.”
