THOUSANDS of children living in poverty across western Romania have been treated to gift-filled shoeboxes this Christmas.
Packed by kind-hearted Vale residents, a lorry packed with more than 10,000 festive shoeboxes recently left Teams4U’s warehouse in Davies Road to begin a three-day, 1,000 mile journey to Oradea in western Romania, where charity volunteers distributed them out to children and families living in abject poverty.
The team travelled out to various communities in the Romanian county of Bihor, including schools, churches and gypsy villages, to deliver the shoeboxes to impoverished children and the homeless.
The charity’s ‘Christmas Shoebox Appeal’ has seen thousands of Vale residents donate educational and hygienic supplies, such as toothpaste, stationery, puzzles, gloves, hats, scarves, plastic utensils and soap.
