Vale school rated good by Ofsted inspectors

YOUNGSTERS and staff at Elmley Castle CE First School are celebrating after being confirmed as a good school by Government inspectors.

Ofsted praised the school for maintaining its good quality of education since the last visit and commended pupils and parents for being proud and overwhelmingly positive about their school.

The inspection follows a period of upheaval at the school with falling pupil numbers and widespread worry the school could even close.

But with the arrival of new executive headteacher Claire Davies in September, the future now looks brighter for youngsters and staff.

Numbers are on the increase, community confidence in the school has been restored and the pupils are benefitting from a wide range of exciting learning opportunities which are enabling them to achieve well.

“Thanks to the hard work of the staff and Governors and with the support of our parents, we’ve really turned things round and are thriving again with increased numbers expected in September,” Mrs Davies said.

The respected headteacher also praised pupils who were recognised in the inspectors report for their ‘exemplary behaviour’ and for their willingness to listen to and respect other pupils opinions.

The school is now excited about the launch of its Nursery at the start of March.

“This is a key move for the school as both staff and Governors have a strong commitment to providing good quality pre-school care for families in this community,” Mrs Davies added.
