Vale MPs win big majorities on landslide night for Tories

CONSERVATIVE Nigel Huddleston was returned as Evesham’s MP, increasing his majority by almost 5,000.

Mr Huddleston polled 37,426, which was 28,018 more than Labour candidate Helen Russell.

She finished on 9,408 with Margaret Rowley (Liberal Democrat) on 6,474.

The Green Party’s Sue Howarth received 2,177 with Monster Raving Loony Party candidate Barmy Brockman fourth on 638.




In a post-result tweet Mr Huddleston thanked the 37,426 people who voted for him and said: “I am delighted and honoured to be returned as the MP for Mid Worcestershire.

“I look forward to getting down to work and serving all my constituents no matter who they voted for.”


The Conservative landslide was added within the hour as Harriett Baldwin retained her West Worcestershire seat to earn another term as Pershore’s MP.

Mrs Baldwin polled 34,909 votes to win a commanding 24,499 vote majority over Liberal Democrat Beverley Nielsen in second place with 10,410.

Labour’s Samantha Charles finished third on 9,496 while the Green Party’s Martin Allen came home fourth with 2,715
