A FAMILY agricultural machinery business based in the Vale has won a prestigious national award.

Albutt Ltd, based in Great Washbourne near Beckford, was named British and Irish Manufacturer of the Year at the LAMMA Innovation Awards.

The ceremony took place last week at the NEC in Birmingham during the LAMMA show, the UK’s largest event for agricultural machinery and technology.

The company, which has been family-owned and operated for more than 50 years, designs and builds heavy-duty equipment used on farms and construction sites across the world.

The firm was presented with the gold award in the British and Irish Manufacturing category, marking a major milestone for the business and its workforce, many of whom live in Evesham.

“It’s an honour to be recognised as the UK and Ireland’s top manufacturer,” said Alistair Albutt, managing director.

“Our business is built on the hard work of our team, and winning this award is a recognition of the skill and dedication of everyone in our factory and office who makes our success possible.”

The award judges were particularly impressed by Albutt’s forward-thinking approach to manufacturing.

While many in the industry have moved production overseas, the firm has remained committed to its Great Washbourne roots, where it now employs 40 people.

The top award recognises not only the company’s growth but also its investment in green technology, including solar power and water-based paints, as well as its commitment to supporting rural employment through apprenticeship schemes.
