Vale crowds will be looking at the stars

A LARGE crowd and a reality TV star will descend on a Vale village this weekend when it hosts a two-day festival.

The centre of Broadway will be packed on Saturday and Sunday (July 12 and 13) with the second ever Broadfest event taking place which is headlined by former X Factor star and Dancing on Ice winner Ray Quinn.

The cheeky chappie Liverpudlian will be joined by international Blues artist Laurence Jones as the other big name who will close the festival on Sunday evening.

Local acts will also be joining in the fun including Pershore’s Jennifer Ludlow, Evesham boy bands Maxed Out and Prism, 15-year-old Georgia Wheatley from Honeybourne and Broadway’s very own Elspeth Rose and male duo As Mamas.

Children from Broadway First School will also be playing a part who will be performing some songs their upcoming stage production of Cinderella Rockerfella. Singer Ruby Lamont will perform alongside children from the Aria Dance Company.

Broadfest attracted more than 7,000 visitors to the Vale village when it held its first event in the summer of last year.

This weekend’s event is supported by leading youth charity Princes Trust who help thousands of young people across the UK into work

A spokesman from Princes Trust said: “We are delighted to be attending Broadfest this year to raise awareness of the work we do with local young people.

“Young people who competed our Enterprise programme, which helps 18 to 30-year-olds set up in business, will also be performing at this year’s festival.”
