WORK is set to be carried out on two Evesham car parks as park of a £280,000 cash injection from Wychavon District Council.
In Evesham, this year the Chapel Street Car Park will be resurfaced at a cost of £50,000 and next year the access road to Crown Meadow Car Park will be resurfaced, costing £200,000.
The wall and steps at Covercroft (South) in Droitwich will be rebuilt at a cost £20,000 this year and Rickets Lane Car Park, also in the Spa, will have £10,000 spent on it to revamp an access route. That will be carried out next year.
The work on these car parks, paid for by Wychavon District Council’s capital funds, has been described by as ‘essential’ as leaving them in the condition they are in could potentially damage vehicles.
Recent resurfacing work has also included Pershore High Street and Bewdley Street, Evesham.
Coun Lynne Duffy, whose portfolio covers car parks, said: “This work will greatly benefit those who use the car parks – it is vital for both the community and tourists.”
