UPDATE: M5 horse safely caught but delays of around an hour now in both directions

A HORSE which was loose on the M5 and which caused the motorway to be closed in both directions has been safely caught.

Highways chiefs have confirmed a horse box is now en route to the scene to ferry the horse away from the scene.

Traffic is still being held in both directions between junction five for Droitwich and junction six for Worcester.

A delay of more than one hour in both directions can be expected and drivers are being asked to plan ahead.

Meanwhile those on public transport have been advised of delays to the 144 between Worcester and Birmingham because of the congestion on the A38 near the motorway.
