A NEW Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) for Evesham has been published by Worcestershire County Council.
This sets out a long-term vision to make walking, wheeling, and cycling in Evesham safer, more accessible, and attractive for everyone.
The Evesham LCWIP follows a public engagement exercise held in 2024. It asked residents, businesses, and community groups to share their views on how to improve active travel routes and connections across the town.
How the plan was shaped
Feedback gathered has played a key role in shaping the final plan, ensuring it reflects local priorities and supports healthier, more sustainable travel choices.
Coun Karl Perks, Worcestershire County Council’s Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Highways and Transport, said: “The Evesham LCWIP sets out a clear framework for how we can enhance walking and cycling routes across the town, helping residents choose how they travel for everyday journeys.
“It focuses on improving safety, accessibility, and connectivity, making it easier for people of all ages and abilities to get around without always relying on the car.”
Three key routes
The Evesham LCWIP includes three shortlisted cycling routes and a town centre walking zone.
LCWIPs do not come with direct funding. But, having an adopted plan puts the county council and its partners in a strong position to secure investment. This can be done as new funding opportunities become available.
The Evesham LCWIP will also support the council’s wider goals around health, wellbeing, and sustainable transport across the county.
The Evesham Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan builds on Worcestershire County Council’s ongoing programme of LCWIPs. These are being developed for towns across Worcestershire. Among them are Redditch, Wyre Forest and South Worcestershire (Droitwich, Malvern, Pershore and Worcester City).
