THE UK’s largest annual rail exhibition commences this week at the Rail Innovation Centre in Long Marston, writes Neil Gordon.

Rail Live 2025 will welcome 7,000 rail professionals and over 300 exhibitors across Wednesday (June 18) and Thursday (June 19) at the Warwickshire head-quarters of rolling stock provider and rail innovations company Porterbrook.

Rail minister Lord Peter Hendy will be one of 50 industry experts to give a speech, along with Alex Hynes, the Department for Transport’s rail services director general and Andrew Haines, chief executive of Network Rail.

Exhibitors include major engineering provider Babcock Rail, integrated ticket systems designer Capita PLC and Freightliner, the UK’s largest maritime intermodal logistics operator.

Other organisations attending include the Mental Wealth Company which assists businesses to help their staff thrive at work, plus the British Transport Police and the Environment Agency.

Visitors will be able to tour the UK’s first hydrogen-ready passenger train HydroFLEX, and also check out a new tri-mode, diesel-battery hybrid, class 93 locomotive.

A spokesperson for Rail Live 2025 said: “This two-day event offers visitors exclusive access to new products and solutions, potential suppliers, decision-makers, experts from across the rail industry as well as group discussions and informative sessions across three seminar theatres.

“This is a major opportunity to share learning, build successful networks and stay up-to-date on the latest innovations while planning for 2025 and beyond.”

Sustainability will be a key feature of this year’s event with Network Rail exhibiting in the first ever sustainability zone at Rail Live.
