A TWO-CAR head on crash on the M5 has left a driver in a critical but stable condition with potentially life-threating injuries in hospital.
Witnesses are being sought to the incident at about 10.42am on Wednesday (June 14) on the northbound carriageway between junctions seven and six.
The driver of a VW Golf was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham where he is in a critical but stable condition.
The driver of the other vehicle, a Mercedes Sprinter van, was taken to the Worcestershire Royal Hospital with leg and chest injuries.
“It’s believed the grey VW Golf was deliberately driven in the wrong direction at speed on the motorway,” a police spokesperson said.
“Both vehicles were extensively damaged.”
