A POPULAR Evesham hotel has paid tribute to the Vale’s beloved asparagus with a sandwich to mark British Sandwich Week.

The Evesham Hotel has created the new tasty green snack dubbed the ‘Evesham Hotel Asparagus Sandwich’ to mark British Sandwich Week which concludes tomorrow (May 16).

Sous Chef Ben Whatcott, produced the sandwich, which will now feature on the hotel’s menu, using locally sourced ingredients to make the sandwich that bit more unique.

The asparagus sandwich includes seasonal ingredients such as Willersey Bacon, Cotswold organic brie and micro watercress along with combining spears of local asparagus which he believes will go down a treat with tourists.

General manager, David Field said: “The new sandwich enables us to celebrate one of the most iconic British foods by using quality produce sourced from local suppliers.

“It has already received rave reviews from hotel staff, so I am sure it will soon be in demand by guests and visitors as part of a light lunch or afternoon snack.”
