HEARTFELT tributes have been paid to Jeff King, the much-loved branch president of the Evesham and District brand of the Royal British Legion (RBL), who has died.
The long-serving RBL member passed away on February 26 and was hailed by branch chairman Coun Alan Booth as a ‘true gentleman respected by all’.
Mr King was a keen supporter of all RBL related activities including the town’s annual Poppy Appeal and organiser Fiona George was among those to pay her respects.
“A true Gentleman who will be missed by so many. ‘See you later Alligator, in a while Crocodile’,” she wrote.
Vicar of Evesham, Rev Andrew Spurr added his condolences and said: “So sorry to hear this, he was a good man; I enjoyed working with him.
And former Mayor of Evesham Coun Fred Kaler said: “Jeff was a one off always a kind word for everyone, I will miss our friendship chats on a Tuesday.”
His funeral will take place next Friday (March 11) at 3pm, an RBL presence with standards is requested.
