THE COUNTDOWN to Christmas has begun in Pershore with the donation of a tree by a town butcher.
Ken Tallis of Abbey Butchers has donated the tree and met with Mayor of Pershore Coun Chris Parsons and Tom Rimmel of Smart Cut Ltd to choose the tree which will be taking pride of place at the top of Broad Street.
Local residents have already paid tribute to the popular butcher for his generosity in what he called a ‘traumatic year’.
“With all the social distancing, lockdowns, bereavements, illness and financial hardship for many we need something to bring us cheer,” he said.
“I hope in these very difficult times, this tree will bring everyone a little joy and encourage people into our wonderful town to support our independent retailers.”
