Travelodge announces plans for four new hotels across the county

TRAVELODGE is looking to partner with local authorities across Worcestershire to deliver four new hotels in the region as part of it’s development partnership plans.

The proposed developments in Great Malvern, Redditch, Worcester and Evesham would nearly double the number of Travelodge’s in Worcestershire, adding to the groups five hotels currently operating in the region.

The development partnerships provide local authorities with an opportunity to have a hotel in their region in the hopes of stimulating growth and regeneration across Britain.

Malvern Hills District Council, Redditch Borough Council, Worcesters City Council and Wychavon District Council were amongst the 220 local authorities approached by Travelodge in relation to it’s development partnerships.

Steve Bennett, Travelodge chief property and development officer said: “In the current climate, Local Authorities are under extreme pressure to invest in their economy and support regeneration projects.

“This is why we have written to four Local Authorities across Worcestershire to offer our support as we have a requirement to nearly double our Worcestershire portfolio.

“This expansion programme could represent a multi-million investment for third party investors and create 100 new jobs.”

Upon completion of the hotel developments, local authorities can decide whether to retain ownership of the hotel to receive annual rent revenues or sell the hotel with Travelodge as its operator.

Travelodge believes it can expand its UK hotel network with the development of 300 new locations and is offering local authorities a chance to have one or multiple hotels in their region.
