TRANSITION Evesham Vale has been handed a grant worth more than £1,000 which was used to fund the running of an annual food festival.

The community group was one of nine groups to be selected for a grant by The Midcounties Co-operative from their Society’s Community Fund.

The £1,200 handed to Transition was crucial in helping the group to fund the costs of the Vale First Festival which was held last month alongside the Evesham Carnival. And the grant was also used to pay for the groups Local Food Directory.

Transition Evesham Vale was set up to find ways of moving to Evesham towards a lower energy future.

Secretary of Transition Evesham Vale, David Haslam, said: “The grant was crucial to the underwriting of the finance of the festival as it costs quite a lot of money to put on.”
