Towns prepare to fall silent in remembrance

COMMEMORATIONS to remember all those who made the ultimate sacrifice will see the Vale fall silent this weekend.

Remembrance Sunday (November 10) will feature a parade through the town centre in Evesham before a service of remember all those who gave their lives.

Former service personnel and local uniformed groups such as the town’s Sea Cadets will gather outside Iceland at 10.15am before the parade to the War Memorial in Abbey Park at 10.50am.

All of those gathered will observe the two minute silence at 11am before the wreath-laying ceremony.




Following the Act of Remembrance, the band will lead the ex-service standard bearers, the civic party and the uniformed organisations to All Saints’ Church for a service of remembrance.

In Pershore, the town’s Royal British Legion will lead the parade from the town’s leisure centre at 10.10am up through the Asda car park before turning left into the High Street, right into Broad Street and onto Church Row.


After arriving at Pershore Abbey, a service of remembrance will take place before the parade retraces its steps back to the leisure centre.

Later on Sunday, members of the Royal British Legion, together with the Royal Naval Association will be in Wick to take part in Wick’s Remembrance Service at 3pm.

On Monday (November 11) there is an Armistice Day service at the Cross of Sacrifice in Pershore Cemetery from 10.45am and the two minute silence will be observed in Chapman Court at 11am and members of the public are invited to attend.

The Pershore and District Royal British Legion branch will also have their Garden of Remembrance open tomorrow (Saturday) to Monday for local residents to plant a cross in remembrance of the sacrifices made in defence of the freedom we enjoy today.
