MEMBERS of an Evesham weight loss group are preparing to strut down the catwalk in a popular town shop for charity.

Women from Slimming World, who help and support members in losing weight through exercise and healthy eating, will take part in a fashion show at Bonmarche on Friday (May 13) to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and Cancer Research UK.

The event, which has been planned over the last six weeks and will involve around ten models, came about when Kelly Gibbons, a consultant at Slimming World, got talking to one of her members Angie Humpston, store manager at Bonmarche.

The two decided it would be a great opportunity for members dress up in the High Street store’s clothes to show off how much weight they have lost to family and friends, while raising money for charity.

Deep Majmudar, who has lost 3st 5lb said: “From the very start I’ve seen progress. I never sent pictures of myself to my family in India and eight months into going to Slimming World, I Skyped home and my mum couldn’t believe it was me she was talking to. She was amazed.

“I feel healthier and I can’t explain how wonderful it is to feel this way. All the consultants have been fantastic.”

Julie Baylis, who has lost 5st 7lb said: “I wouldn’t have dreamt to do anything like this before. I’m a little nervous but really excited at the same time.

“I’ve been going to Slimming World for a few years and I can honestly say it has changed my life. I used to feel tired and lethargic, but now I run and feel so much more confident.”

Lorraine Knight, who has lost 2st said: “We have a right laugh at the sessions and although it’s great to lose a bit of weight, you gain a lot of friends as well. We all support each other and can’t wait for the catwalk.”

Money raised on the night will be split equally to the two chosen charities.

The event starts at 6.30pm and tickets cost £3, which includes a glass of cava and nibbles.
