CARING staff at two Pershore firms took to the pitch to raise more than £4,000 in memory of a popular Evesham father who died on his way to work.

Tomasz Kormicka died on July 9 after his Yamaha motorbike was involved in a collision with a VW Touran on the A44 at the Salters Lane junction in Lower Moor, Pershore.

The 41-year-old was on his way to work at Severn Waste Services when the crash happened and was pronounced dead at the scene.

He leaves behind a wife Agata, and two children aged six and eight. Family friend Marcin Fuja was inspired to set up a Go Fund Me page in his memory.

Agata is fighting cancer, a glioblastoma multiform tumor, and has already struggled with it for the past few years.

The ‘Match of the Day’ on Friday (September 10) evening saw Wrubble Ltd and DolphinTec take to the field at Pershore Town FC.

Entry fees and an extensive raffle raised £4385.70 for Tomasz’s family with Wrubble’s Vince Jones being named man of the match.

Wrubble director Phil Williams, said: “It was a great night with an awesome turnout. The result wasn’t what we’d hoped but we gave it our all and the support from local people and businesses has been greatly appreciated.”

His view was shared by Lewis Dolphin, director of DolphinTec who said: “What a night! DolphinTec are chuffed with their win but overwhelmed by the support we received for the fund-raiser.

“Thank you to the Wrubble crew for inviting us to join them and to everyone who played their part in raising more than £4k for the family. Are you up for it again next year Phil?”

Prizes were donated by a huge amount of generous local companies. The full list of pledges and can be found at www.wrubble.co.uk/raffleprizes
