Evesham Town Council has updated the town plan which sets out its key priorities for the future.
The document is a comprehensive revision of the original 2015 version which outlined several areas of focus that residents wanted addressing such as traffic issues, leisure amenities and town centre regeneration.
It builds on the stated 2015 vision and takes into account further responses from a public consultation in 2022.
The priorities reflect the changing needs of the Evesham community and the socio-economic developments that influence them.
Amongst these are to create a town that has a strong cultural identity that celebrates the town’s history, an enhanced retail and hospitality offer, improved transport and recreational opportunities and an environment which encourages people to keep fit and healthy.

The update plan acknowledges that action to achieve the priorities lies with all levels of local government and identifies where it will work in partnership with external funding bodies such as Sports England.
It also emphasises community engagement aimed at involving residents and business community in decision-making processes to foster a sense of ownership over the town’s future.
The document was put together by a small team of councillors and chair of Vale of Evesham Civic Society, Gill Pawson.
Gill, a former town planner by profession, said: “We are pleased to see at last an up-to-date version of the town plan, which focuses on those issues in the town that the council has responsibility for or can influence.
“The town plan committee is now working on its priorities for action for the next financial year, using the action points from the document as the basis for their decision making.”
The working group also produced a document listing all the review responses from 2022 that were not included updated plan and reasons for their omission.

The mayor of Evesham, Councillor Robert Raphael, added: “Our 2025 town plan is a testament to Evesham’s commitment to growth and community spirit.
“We believe these initiatives will not only enhance the quality of life for our residents but also attract visitors and investors to our beautiful town.”
