EVESHAM and Pershore residents were in the spotlight at this year’s Community Recognition Awards at the ceremony in Peopleton Village Hall.
Wychavon District Council hosted the event which is held to give people a chance to nominate those in their community who they feel go the extra mile for those around them.
The awards were split into eight different categories and nominations were taken from various voluntary and charitable groups from across the district, which saw two winners from Pershore and one from Evesham.
Number 8 Volunteer Team and Mark Richardson both from Pershore, won the Community Group Award and
Volunteer of the Year Award respectively, while Friends of Jubilee Gardens from Evesham won the Community Project Award.
Hannah Peacop, Community Development Assistant at Wychavon, said: “We had lots of nominations this year so it was extremely difficult for the panel to choose the winners.
“It’s amazing to see just how committed the winners are to their communities and were all worthy of the recognition.”
The awards celebrate and acknowledge the volunteers, community and club leaders, coaches, athletes and artists who have made such an outstanding contribution to their community.
Coun Lynne Duffy, Chairman of Wychavon, said: “We’ve had many positive comments about how special the occasion was, with the winners making their communities and the Wychavon area proud.”
