THE WORK of a ceramicist who has been honoured by well-known businessman Theo Paphitis is being showcased by a Pershore shop.

Three Little Pigs on the High Street has welcomed Charlotte Hupfield for the latest in their six week showcase events which runs until August 9.

Charlotte’s passion for pottery began at school and she started off sharing a kiln with a local potter in 2008.

She invested in a bigger kiln in 2011 which she now uses to develop and broaden her work from her workshop at home.

Charlotte’s designs come from initial sketchbook drawings which she then transfers onto the ceramic surface of her forms.

Traditional techniques such as slab building and using the ‘pinch pot’ method are frequent throughout Charlotte’s making processes, and her vases are individually slip cast from her own homemade plaster moulds.

In 2011 Charlotte became an Small Business Sunday ‘SBS’ winner, as chosen by TV Dragons’ Den star Theo Paphitis.

Three Little Pigs proprietor Fiona Abbott met Charlotte on Twitter and the pair built a friendship which has led to the showcase.

“For us, Twitter is a great way to discover artisans and crafters that we may otherwise never have met, said Fiona.

“Having a collection of Charlotte’s ceramics with us, and to introduce her work to our customers is a testament to the positive

impact social media can have”.

“We are always looking for up and coming, talented artisans for our six week showcases and this was an opportunity we couldn’t resist.” she added.
