FORECASTERS are warning the Vale could be hit by thunderstorms and rain later this evening.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning which will come into force from 4pm this evening and will remain in place until 11.55pm tonight (Tuesday).

The Met Office said: “Thundery showers are expected to push north across southern parts of the UK through Tuesday evening, perhaps turning more widespread towards midnight.

“Although many places won’t see these showers, there is a chance of localised flooding of homes, businesses and susceptible roads.

“Frequent lightning may be an additional hazard with potential disruption to power networks. Similarly, but very locally, hail may cause impacts.”

Forecasters have also issued another yellow weather warning for thunderstorms and rain.

That will take effect from 12:05am tomorrow (Wednesday) and will remain in place until 10pm Wednesday evening.

The Met Office said: “Scattered thunderstorms with locally intense downpours will continue to move north across England and Wales in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

“Although the thunderstorms may tend to ease from the south later in the night, further, possibly severe storms may break out again on Wednesday afternoon over northern England and northeast Wales.

“Although many places will miss the thunderstorms, there is a chance of some localised flooding of homes, businesses and roads. Frequent lightning and may be an additional hazard with potential for disruption to power networks. Large hail may also cause impacts on Wednesday afternoon.”
