Thousands raised to fund new play equipment for Dogs Trust's homeless hounds

A FUND-RAISING duo from Offenham have raised £10,000 for Dogs Trust Evesham to fund new play equipment for the centre’s homeless hounds.

Business partners Mary Jones and Julie Young, who raised the money through a series of fund-raising events and activities last year, recently visited the Wickhamford rehoming centre to see first-hand how their money has been used to buy state-of the art play equipment for the four-legged friends.

The play and agility equipment, made by Marmax, includes weaving posts, agility hoops and ramps, and is made from 100 per cent recycled materials, which do not rot, corrode or splinter – perfect for paws, large or small.

Mary said: “We’re delighted to see how the money we raised has gone directly towards helping the dogs at the rehoming centre. The dogs love the equipment and when we were told the centre would love some extra equipment for the dogs, we were determined to raise the money.

“We’ve been involved with Dogs Trust Evesham as volunteers for around five years now and we see first hand the incredible work all of the staff put in to caring for the dogs.

“We just wanted to give something back to the centre, the staff and of course the dogs to ensure that their time at the centre is as enjoyable as it can be whilst they wait for their forever home.”

Chris Slight, rehoming centre manager at Dogs Trust Evesham, said: “We’re so grateful to Mary and Julie for dedicating a lot of time towards fund-raising for the equipment.

“It provides additional textures and surfaces and extra stimulation in the exercise areas to keep our dogs entertained. Our play areas are essential for helping dogs to develop, learn new behaviours, improve in their training and feel relaxed with their carers, so this equipment is vital in helping them to enjoy their time here.”
