Theme park bosses no longer dig Evesham as plans for Diggerland withdrawn

DIGGERLAND bosses have withdrawn their plans to open a theme park at The Valley due to ‘unexpected and unforeseen circumstances.’

Evesham was set to welcome the Midlands only Diggerland after planning chiefs gave the green light to the plans back in October 2015.

However, a spade was never put in the ground despite bosses initially saying the JCB themed park would be opened in summer 2016.

In a statement on their website, Diggerland said the decision to withdraw their plans was ‘beyond our control.’

They also added they are working with Worcestershire County Council to find another location for the theme park in the county.

The statement read: “Unfortunately due to unexpected and unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, the Diggerland Worcestershire site that was planned for opening at The Valley in Evesham has been withdrawn.

“We are working with Worcestershire Council to find suitable land.

“It is unlikely that a new park in the Midlands will be open this 2017 season. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
