Rob George 6th Jul, 2019

THE ICONIC gay pride rainbow flags flew proudly above the shops at The Valley during June to coincide and support national campaigns backing the movement.

30,000 weekly visitors and over 100,000 people via The Valley’s social media channels have enjoyed and joined the campaign.

The annual reminder is a positive stance against discrimination and violence towards the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community; It was started after the Stonewall riots of 1969; with the first official UK Pride being held in London on July 1, 1972.

Phil Maclean, senior marketing manager at The Valley said: “Inclusivity is one of our core values and we’re committed to promoting equality, enabling diversity and creating an inclusive environment for both visitors and the many staff employed at The Valley .”
