MORE THAN 5,000 visitors from across the UK flocked to Ashdown Farm for the annual Asparafest music and food festival.

Celebrating Worcestershire’s best loved export, Vale of Evesham asparagus, which was earlier this year granted global protected food status, the festival had lots happening keeping the whole family entertained, from cooking lessons to classic car shows to music acts; there was something for everyone.

Both festival days were packed with live music and food demonstrations and workshops.

Food stalls with an asparagus flavour kept visitors refreshed and a selling marquees gave local producers and tradespeople the chance to showcase their wares.

Gus the Asparagus Man was in attendance and the cBeebies’ Mr Bloom and Katy Ashworth kept families entertained.

Tash Daly, Asparafest event organiser said: “We’ve had lots of very positive feedback and everyone worked really hard to make it the biggest and best Asparafest yet, celebrating a great year for Vale of Evesham asparagus!

“We want to say a huge thank you to all our volunteers, supporters, the Worcestershire Ambassadors and to everyone who came along to the festival.

“It was fantastic to see so much going on – from bhangra and salsa dancing to plate spinning and theatre shows, cookery demos and classes, the infamous eating competition, and so many different ways to eat gras,” she added.
