A CELEBRATION of a nationwide scheme which sees donations handed out to local causes from the sale of plastic shopping bags was held at Evesham’s Tesco store last week.
Tesco’s Bags of Help Scheme has helped an astonishing 10,000 community groups with £48million raised so far.
Staff at the Evesham store invited in groups who have benefited from the scheme locally to thank customers who voted using the blue community tokens and to talk about the difference the grant has made to them.
Evesham Sea Cadets discussed how they had bought equipment for the cadets to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh award while Age UK Herefordshire and Worcestershire raoosed awareness of the ways they can help those over 55.
Current nominees Pinvin Preschool, Springfield Mind at Wallace House and Cropthorne with Charlton School are bidding for votes this time around.
