A BRAND-NEW cafe run primarily by young people aged 13-years-old and above will open its doors to the community this weekend.
The Llama Lounge Community Café at Ourside Youth Centre on Broadway Road will open every Saturday from midday to 3pm and offer a unique experience for both the customers and young people.
Cafe bosses hope support for the fledgling café, visitors will help teenagers further develop some of the skills which will help them thrive in their adult lives such as teamwork, organisation, customer service, communication, and commitment.
An exciting new menu with paninis and jacket potatoes, with the option of adding a variety of flavoursome fillings, has been developed by the staff members.
Diners can try one of the cafe’s made-to-order hot drinks from celebratory cappuccinos, to a warm hot chocolate or just a cup of tea..
Ceara Campbell, one of the young people involved and cafe assistant said: “Our café has been designed as a place for the whole community to come together, so we invite you to come along and try our communal table or even have a game of pool or table football”.
“The Llama Lounge café is a place which welcomes everybody, so we hope visitors can come along and see us soon.”
The project is funded and supported by the Big Lottery, The Department for Culture, Media and Sport and IWILL.
