Tasty treats donated as Polish community celebrates

CARING members of Evesham’s Polish community have prepared tasty treats for those on the frontline in the fight against Coronavirus as part of a day of celebrations.

The current COVID-19 crisis has forced organisers to rethink this year’s annual Polish Heritage Day celebrations with an online programme replacing the ever-popular event in the heart of the town centre today (Saturday).

Despite swapping the outdoors for online, the community have prepared a packed programme of events and baked three cakes as gifts for residents and staff at the local hospital, hospice and police station.

In keeping with the upcoming VE Day celebrations, they are inscribed with the words “We will win this battle together” to remember the Polish and British airmen who fought side by side in the Battle of Britain and the current battle together against the coronavirus.

Organisers Maria KwiecieĊ„ and Ewa Polanska said: “We wanted to express our appreciation for all those on the front line and to show our support and solidarity in these difficult times.”
