HIDING in an oak tree as Parliamentarian forces in hot pursuit scoured the surrounding countryside was just one of the many narrow escapes of our last King Charles in his flight after the Battle of Worcester in 1651
In this coronation year for our new King, members of Pershore’s Heritage and History Society at their September meeting will hear all about the incredible story of his predecessor, King Charles II, in a talk entitled “The Great Escape – In the Footsteps of King Charles”
The illustrated talk by Sandy Cale of Worcestershire Walks and Talks will trace the former monarch’s fortunes until his final restoration in 1660 and will be held at the society’s usual venue of the Conference Room at the rear of Pershore Library in Church Street, Pershore on Thursday (September 7) at 7pm.
All are welcome and admission for non members is £2.50.
