HISTORIC moves to improve the navigation of the River Avon may have instead led to its demise, a meeting in Pershore next week will reveal.
Drawing on a range of sources from court pleas to the journal of the House of Commons, Matthew Winfield will explain how and why the Avon came to be regulated in the 18th century.
Matthew’s talk will form part of the next meeting of Pershore’s Heritage and History Society which is the group’s AGM and will be held at its usual venue of Wulstan Hall on Priest Lane on Thursday (March 7) at 7.30pm.
Admission for non-members is £2
