A TALENTED St Andrew’s First School pupil has designed the logo for this year’s Hampton Flower Show.
Five-year-old Erin Lilley, a year one pupil at the Hampton school, was announced as the winner of the logo design competition last Friday (March 31).
Pupils at the school had been challenged by Coun Ged Bearcroft, the Chairman of the Hampton Flower Show, to design a logo for the popular show which will be used on all promotional material for the event.
Erin was presented with a £10 gift token from Coun Bearcroft for designing the winning logo.
Coun Bearcroft said: “We’re really pleased that children at St Andrew’s CE Primary School have embraced our logo design competition and I was delighted to be invited to the school achievement assembly to hand out the prize to Erin.
“It took a lot of deliberation as there was a very high standard, but Erin’s design really shone out and it will now be visible on all of our literature going forward including posters, leaflets and the website as we promote Hampton Flower Show.
The popular flower show is returning on Saturday, September 30 and will be celebrating the heritage of the Vale of Evesham has a horticultural hotbed.
“We will shortly be advertising the list of categories that people can take part in at the flower show,” Coun Bearcroft added.
“One of the categories will be aimed at the school children of St Andrews. We will be giving each child a sunflower plant to nurture and when the time comes we will have the photos of the fully-grown plants to display in the show marquee.
“We aim to make the event a fun-filled family day with plenty of stalls, entertainment and crafts to participate in. There will be food and refreshments available on the day and we hope to receive backing not only from local people, but also from the wider community of the vale of Evesham.”
