Take a walk on the wild side

Evesham Editorial 3rd Jun, 2017   0

WORCESTERSHIRE Wildlife Trust is inviting Evesham and Pershore residents to explore the nature on their doorsteps as part of its annual ’30 Days Wild’ challenge.

More than 400 residents across the county have already signed up to the third annual campaign which began yesterday, where they are urged to take part in a ‘Random Act of Wildness’ each day throughout the month.

Those who take part can spend a few minutes or a few hours exploring the outdoors, and will be given a free pack full of ideas, activity sheets, a calendar to record their adventures, stickers and a packet of UK native wildflower seeds.

Trust communications manager, Wendy Carter, said: “We’re really excited about the return of 30 Days Wild. People can take part in anything from walking barefoot in the park to feeding garden birds.

“We’ll be suggesting activities every day on Facebook and Twitter to help people on their 30 Days Wild journey and there will also be a phone app available to download too.

“Last year thousands of people carried out 1.8 million Random Acts of Wildness during the challenge. That’s 1.8 million precious moments that brought people closer to nature and enhanced their lives.

“The Trust want to double that number this year and we’re already well on our way to doing that. We hope the connections people make with the wild around them will ensure this is better protected for the future too.”
