Sweet way to write to Santa

YOUNGSTERS in Evesham can enjoy a magical start to the festive season by posting a special letter to Santa at a town sweet shop.

Mr Chill’s Traditional Sweet Emporium, on Bridge Street, has bought a vintage Victorian pillar box to make sure youngsters get their letters delivered to Father Christmas.

The shop has produced its own exclusive design for the pre-printed letter, with space for good boys and girls to list a few of the items from their wish list. The letter is then popped into an envelope addressed to The Toy Workshop, Reindeer Avenue, The North Pole.

There is no cost involved in taking part and parents are able to re-visit the shop to retrieve their child’s letter to find out what they want for Christmas.

Shop owner, David Chill, said: “I spotted the Victorian pillar box in a warehouse in Leicestershire a few months ago and had to buy it. It perfectly complements the old-fashioned feel of our shop’s interior, bearing the initials of Queen Victoria.

“However, once we had got it we didn’t really know what to do with it until we realised it was a perfect reminder of Christmas in a bygone age and would therefore be extra special for children because it doesn’t look like the modern post boxes they are familiar with.”
