Support offered over crime fears

Evesham Editorial 7th Jun, 2019   0

COUNCILLORS, police officers and Neighbourhood Watch representatives will come together this weekend to offer support to Evesham South residents concerned about crime in their area.

A drop-in session will be held from 2pm to 4pm tomorrow (Saturday) at St Richard’s Hall in Mayfair.

Residents will have the chance to express their concerns about crime in the Evesham South area, which includes Four Pools, Fairfield and all of the estates off Davies Road.

Coun Ed Cohen, district councillor for Evesham South ward and Elliott Nixon, Community Safety Projects Officer at Wychavon and Malvern Hills District Councils, will be on hand to talk to residents.

Craig Cox, chairman of West Mercia Neighbourhood Watch and Coun Chrissy Smith, who is a town councillor for the South ward, will be talking to residents about how to set up a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme for their street.

Other guests will include PC Paul Brown and Mike Simpson from West Mercia Police who will be offering advice on crime prevention. A representative from Rooftop Housing has also been invited.

“This drop-in session is a great opportunity for residents to express any concerns they may have about crime in their area. We are aware there have been a high number of break-ins lately and our representatives will be able to offer professional advice to provide that much-needed peace of mind,” Coun Cohen said.
