SUPERMARKET giant Aldi has revealed plans to build a new store in Pinvin with the creation of more than 40 jobs.

Under the proposals being put forward, the discount food retailer would develop a multi-million pound store on land off Abbey View Road between the A44 and B4083.

Should the development be given planning permission it will mark the next phase of Aldi’s rapid expansion in south Worcestershire which has seen the German giant open stores in Evesham and Worcester.

A second Aldi for Evesham is being proposed on the former R Sinclair Transport site while a third store in Worcester has recently opened on Bath Road.

Aldi will hold a public exhibition to showcase the plans to residents on Thursday, May 4 between 3pm and 7pm at Pershore Library on Church Street.

The consultation will be held ahead of Aldi submitting a planning application to Wychavon District Council later this year.

Supermarket bosses said the store has been carefully designed to make sure it fits in well within the site and doesn’t impact the appearance of the surrounding area.

‘High-quality landscaping’ would also be used throughout the site to enhance its appearance, Aldi claim.

A spokesperson said: “We are delighted to announce our proposals to develop a new Aldi food store at the Abbey View Road site, which will provide local residents with access to high-quality produce at discounted prices.

“The proposed store in a perfect location for residents of Pinvin, Pershore, and Wyre Piddle, and will save shoppers money, helping to reduce travel times for those who currently travel out of the area to complete their weekly food shop.

“We now look forward to meeting residents, and hearing their views on our proposals.”
