Students going Ga Ga for first school musical since Covid pandemic

THE CURTAIN will go up on the first performance from performing arts students at Prince Henry’s High School in three years.

Talented students at the Victoria Avenue school in Evesham will take to the stage for the first time since before the pandemic with their take on the showstopper musical ‘We Will Rock You’.

Following the success of ‘Our House’ in March 2020, ‘We Will Rock You’ has been, and continues to be, a worldwide smash-hit jukebox musical.

It is based on the songs of the British rock band Queen and the book by Ben Elton. It tells the story of the revolutionary Bohemians who oppose a world where music has been banished by the Killer Queen and everyone dresses and thinks the same.

The lyrics from the song ‘Radio Ga Ga’, ‘And everything we want to get, we download from the internet’ and, ‘Our lives are programmed by the hour’ may seem rather familiar when this musical is meant to be set in the future! The final rehearsals are taking place and the students are excited to share all their hard work with audiences over four nights next week.

Head of drama, Mrs Cook, said: “The cast and crew of We Will Rock You have been absolutely wonderful.

“There has been a strong passion from everyone involved in the show to bring this performance to stage and I’m so thankful for everyone’s help.

“The show is selling incredibly quickly, so I do urge anyone wishing to see the show to book as soon as they can to avoid disappointment.”

We Will Rock You features many of the well-known tracks from the iconic rock group Queen including hits such as ‘We are the Champions’, ‘I Want to Break Free’, ‘Another One Bites the Dust’, ‘Killer Queen’, ‘Under Pressure’ as well as the most famous hit song of all, ‘Bohemian Rhapsody.’

The show takes place from Wednesday (February 8) to Saturday (February 11) at The Henrician in Evesham.
