AN EVESHAM student is ‘feeling grand’ after she was recognised by the University of Worcester for her outstanding academic achievements.
Hannah Boulton was awarded with a £1,000 scholarship, an award which recognised students’ achievements throughout the 2020/21 academic year.
The 30-year-old, who is in the second year of a Nursing (Mental Health) degree, said she was ‘surprised and very grateful’ for the honour. She was unaware of the scheme before being handed the scholarship.
“I have already booked a holiday with the money and the rest will go on rent or bills,” she said.
Hannah said completing parts of her first year online, aside from the skills sessions and her work placements, had been challenging.
“Thankfully the cohort is friendly and supportive,” added the former Evesham High School pupil, who chose the university due to its proximity to her hometown.
University of Worcester Acting Deputy Pro Vice Chancellor (Students), Dr Tim Jones, said: “We are very proud of all our students who earned an Academic Scholarship or prize this year, particularly given the challenges of studying during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“These students were committed to and highly successful in their studies and we hope this award will inspire them to pursue further academic achievement.
“The scholarships and prizes are supported by generous philanthropists, including the university’s distinguished Honorary Fellows, local employers, and many successful graduates of the university, and we are very grateful to all our benefactors, whose generosity makes such a difference to our students.”
