LABOUR members in Mid Worcestershire have lent their support to former Brexit Secretary Sir Keir Starmer to be the next leader of the party as the battle to replace Jeremy Corbyn continues.
Members gathered at Pershore Town Football Club to decide whether to nominate preferred candidates in the national leadership elections. Each contender has to gain support from a proportion of constituency Labour parties to enter the final ballot of members.
Following a ballot, Sir Keir emerged as the constituency’s choice for leader while Dawn Butler was nominated as preferred candidate for deputy leader.
Evesham Labour Party is holding a meeting for new members on Tuesday (February 11) at 7.30pm at the Brew Bear Cafe.
