GOLFERS in Evesham are invited to step out on the fairway for a hospice’s fundraising golf day this May.

The St Richard’s Hospice Golf Day is set to take place on Friday, May 17, from 9.30am, at The Vale Golf Club in Evesham.

Teams of four will play 18 holes, followed by a two-course dinner, prize giving ceremony, auction and raffle.

Ria Simons, corporate fundraising lead at St Richard’s, said: “We are really looking forward to a great day of golf, raising funds for our care.

“Our heartfelt thanks go to everyone who joins us for this event, helping make a difference to the lives of those we care for.”

On arrival, teams will be served bacon rolls, tea and coffee. After dinner, the prize-giving will include the first three teams, nearest the pin, longest drive, and a twos competition. The shotgun start is at 11am.

The St Richard’s Golf Day is sponsored by Hallmark Whatley Hulme, Handelsbanken and Whiting Landscape.

Julian Powell, business director at Hallmark Whatley Hulme, said: “It is always a fantastic day of friendly competition, while raising much-needed funds for the hospice’s care.”

Adam Dobson, corporate banking manger, Handelsbanken Worcester and Hereford branch, said:

“The branch fully recognises the truly inspirational work that St Richard’s undertakes in the local community for those in need.”

Jon Murphy, a Director at Whiting Landscape, said:

St Richard’s Hospice is an independent charity offering free, expert care for adults with an illness that cannot be cured, and support for their loved ones and carers.

Each year the hospice team supports more than 3,100 patients, family members and bereaved people in Worcestershire.

It will cost in the region of £12 million to run the hospice this year, which includes patient care and all the necessary support services.

St Richard’s relies on voluntary support, including from donations, gifts in Wills, retail and events for the majority of its income with the remainder funded by the NHS.
