A TOWN flooring firm has ensured the red carpet will be rolled out next year to mark the return of Evesham’s Carnival.

Karndean Designflooring have lent their support to next year’s event which will take place on Saturday, June 6 following a seven year gap.

The day will see floats and entertainment following the theme of ‘At the Movies’ throughout the town.

And following the announcement of the return of the carnival and backing from Karndean Designflooring, organisers have

revealed a huge programme of events in the run up to the big day.

A competition to design the carnival queen’s dress is now open and will close on January 18. There will be a template available online and entries can be posted to Base Point Business Centre, Crab Apple Way, Evesham.

A king and queen pageant will also be taking place in the run up and the successful king and queen will be crowned on January 17 at Evesham Town Hall when there will also be an auction.

Movie buffs can enjoy a Evesham Carnival Movie Quiz at Amber Cafe on February 22 while a Mr Muscle competition will be staged on April 25 at Crown Meadow.

On May 10 there will be a car boot at Hampton Ferry while the carnival Battle of the Bands will be held from May 22 to 24 next year at the Iron Road Rock Bar at the Railway Hotel.

Sarah Cope, on behalf of the carnival committee, said: “The public response to restarting the Evesham Carnival has been amazing and now having Karndean’s support is a wonderful enhancement.

“Evesham Round Table working together with the Carnival sub committees are planning the best Evesham Carnival ever with a whole days entertainment after the procession of floats around the town.

“The carnival is a fantastic opportunity for the people of Evesham to come together have fun and raise some funds for local good causes and charities.”

Paul Barratt, managing director of Karndean Designflooring, said: “We’re delighted to play our part as principal sponsor in bringing back the town’s carnival to Evesham for the first time in seven years.”

“Having recently celebrated our own 40th anniversary, with a strong focus on giving back to the community, we immediately took up the chance to support Evesham Round Table in bringing this special event back to the town.

“It’s going to be an honour and pleasure to help bring the community together for such a momentous occasion.” he added.
