CARING Vale residents proved they have the biggest hearts with more than £340 being raised on a sponsored charity walk.

Organised to provide a much-needed financial boost to several Evesham charities, the walk on Sunday (September 3) raised £341.81 from a raffle and donations.

The event was opened at Hampton Ferry by guest of honour, Nigel Huddleston, Evesham’s MP who thanked Coun Marion Griffiths and her team for organising it, as well as those who participated and supported the day.

A total of £658.56 has been raised to date and a donations page will remain open until Sunday, October 15 at walk.evesham.me

Charities which will benefit from the sponsored walk are Evesham Talking Newspaper, the Red Cross, Caring Hands, Daisy Chain Benevolent Fund, Sue Ryder, Garage Art Group, Working World, Shopmobility, Abbey Trust and Vale Wildlife Trust.

Coun Griffiths said: “‘Essentially, those going to benefit from the generosity of others are Evesham’s homeless, the young and old needing palliative care, the blind, those in crisis around the world, those who need help with their mental well-being, those with neurological disorders, and of course, the disabled.

“Evesham’s heritage and wildlife will also continue to be protected and saved.”
