Sponsor a horseshoe to support charity

Rob George 4th Jun, 2019   0

A PERSHORE resident is encouraging businesses and individuals to sponsor a lucky horseshoe to raise funds for the town’s war horse memorial project.

The idea was forged by Sue Cosnett who, along with the craftsmanship of local blacksmith Steven Ellis Cooper, Wychavon District Council and the generosity of the people in and around Pershore, will be unveiling a life size war horse memorial sculpture constructed of horseshoes.

For just £5 for a business for an adult and £2.50 for a child, local residents can sponsor one of the horseshoes which will be used in the construction of the horse. The name of the sponsor will be written on a plaque positioned by the sculpture to remember the part sponsors played in this project.

Sue said: “Businesses and individuals are invited to support my project by sponsoring a horseshoe. At just £5, it’s a great way to get involved. Please let me know by August 1 and make all payments direct. Thank you!”

Hoping to gain as much local support as possible the group’s target is to raise £12,000 by the end of October to cover the cost of the build, with the surplus funds being donated to Combat Stress.

“It would be great to have as much local support as possible and we’re calling on all local residents to help – your community needs you. Together, let’s make this happen,” she added.
