THE southbound carriageway of the A46 between Salford Priors and Evesham will be closed ‘for some time’ following a four crash this afternoon.
It happened at about 3.55pm close to the junction with the Twyford roundabout and the entire stretch of road has been shut as a result.
The crash involved a blue Volvo, silver Honda Jazz, black Vauxhall Corsa and a blue Audi A5.
West Midlands Ambulance Service sent two ambulances and a rapid response vehicle to the scene.
Paramedics treated four people but no one was seriously injured.
West Mercia Police has said the carriageway is likely to remain closed ‘for some time’ whilst crews from the Highways Agency deal with the fuel spillage on the road.
As a result, drivers heading southbound are being diverted through Salford Priors and on to Norton to get to Evesham.
A police spokesman said: “Police were called to reports of a four car collision on the A46 SB, close to the roundabout at Evesham Country Park.
:A blue Volvo, silver Honda Jazz, black Vauxhall Corsa and a blue Audi A5 were involved in the collision, there are currently no reports of any serious injuries on our log.
“The road is currently blocked and likely to remain so for some time while highways agency attend to deal with fuel on the road service.”
