Something to Think About

Evesham Editorial 29th Jul, 2018

LAST SUNDAY he had booked a 9pm flight back home to Italy, which turned out to be a ‘Major’ mistake or indeed ‘Open’ to question.

I refer of course to Francesco Molinari who won the Open Golf Championship in Carnoustie, Scotland, one of the world’s golfing majors.

On the last day of the Championship, he quietly and confidently moved up the leader board whilst many well-known golfing names were sliding the other way.

I am always pleased when someone like Francesco achieves something which makes people take notice and appreciate it is not always the famous who make the headlines.

There are thousands of ‘unsung’ heroes and heroines in our neighbourhoods, going about their daily lives without any ‘blowing trumpets’ or ‘flashing lights’ to herald them, but getting on with the tasks in hand.

Ordinary people like us, who we meet every day, so often we do not realise the good they are doing in the communities in which they live.

In the Gospels in the New Testament Jesus Christ said, “I tell you the truth, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to Christ will certainly not lose his reward”.

God sees and knows about everything that we do whether good or not so good and he wants us to know him personally so that we can live out our lives to his glory and to the benefit of those around us.
