Something to Think About

Evesham Editorial 13th May, 2018   0

A FAMOUS author wrote in a well-known daily newspaper last Friday about his mobile phone and his car.

His phone was an old pay-as-you-go which he very rarely used, because his wife received all the calls and I felt very much in line with him as I am the same with a phone that is seldom used and my wife gets all the messages on hers.

His car was old and a bit battered but still very functional enabling him to get from home to the railway station and back.

Similarly we have an old car with a few scratches but very roadworthy and enables my wife and I to travel to our destinations.

The point of the author’s reckoning was with all the mobile phone and new car thefts, nobody would want to steal either his phone or his car, so like him I will keep my old phone and my car.

When Jesus Christ walked upon the earth he did not have any of the mod cons of the day and travelled everywhere on foot and even when he used a donkey to ride into Jerusalem, it was borrowed.

The room where he shared his last meal with his disciples before he was killed was borrowed, as was the tomb in which he was buried.

What he did have though was the love of God that he shared with everyone he met and that love is available, through him, to us today.
