Something to Think About

Evesham Editorial 11th Mar, 2018   0

I WRITE this article on a ship inside the Arctic Circle, off the coast of Norway, on my way to hopefully see the Northern Lights.

We have known people who have spent up to two weeks and never seen the lights and others who have only spent two days there and have witnessed this wonderful phenomenon. So I am very hopeful I will see this sight and tick it off of my ‘bucket list’.

Unfortunately when we departed from Portsmouth last Thursday we ran into terrible seas with a swell of between three and five metres which meant many of the passengers, including my wife and I became really ill, which fortunately did not last too long.

Of course this reminded me of the two occasions in the New Testament gospels when the disciples of Jesus Christ were in a boat on the Sea of Galilee and horrendous storms broke out. Each time the disciples were very much afraid and feared for their lives even though some of them were seasoned fishermen.

Both times Jesus calmed the storms and brought a peace, not only to the elements but also to the lives of those frightened men.

There can be many times in our lives when we can feel that we are on a stormy sea and that there seems to be no answer, but there is always an answer which can be found in the Love and Peace which comes to us from God through his Son Jesus.
